Hidden Damage

Our latest dock inspection showed how growth on a piling can mask severe damage done by marine wood borers. During an initial walk-through of the dock, the pilings still looked green above the waterline. Below, the pilings looked nothing at all like new.

Marine growth should be cleaned off of the pilings before they can be properly inspected. During this dock inspection, oyster clusters covered severe damage to one of the pilings. Other pilings showed beginning to moderate damage from marine borers.

Regular piling/dock inspections can prevent this type of deterioration from happening. We conduct annual and bi-annual dock inspections as well as clean and wrap pilings to help protect your investment.
