Inspect It.

You take your car to a mechanic, have HVAC professionals work on your AC, but keeping your dock in good condition requires the same level of professional inspection, maintenance and repair. When the pilings and cross bracings are neglected, excessive marine growth, deterioration, and marine borers can rapidly infect and destroy your investment causing thousands of dollars in damage.

A dock inspection can catch the signs of a wood borer infestation, piling delignification or delamination early and protect your investment.

We include a full inspection report that can be used as a baseline of your dock’s health. This is useful during potential future inspections, like after a major storm.

Preventative Maintenance

The water in Florida doesn’t get cold enough to kill or slow the growth of marine borers. This means the attack on your dock by wood borers is year-round. Even the life of pressure treated lumber can be reduced to less than a decade because of wood borers like ship-worms, pholads, gribbles and pill bugs.

By catching an infestation early, proactive measures can be taken.  Wrapping pilings kills off existing borers and prevents new ones from attacking the structure. This wrap should be cleaned and inspected annually to make sure it is still doing its job.

Hidden Damage

Pilings can look like new from the surface. Below, marine growth can hide severe damage from view.

We remove marine growth during our inspections so that we can identify potential deteriorated areas that may be hidden by surface bio-fouling.
